October 2011 Newsletter

Welcome to Playgroup.
A warm welcome to all of our children and parents. We hope you are all now feeling fully refreshed and ready for the autumn term.
For our new starters, we hope to ensure your child gets the best start in Early Years education possible. If you have any queries or concerns please speak to Donna/Jenny or your Child's keyworker in confidence.
Voluntary Snack Money
We have now been operating voluntary snack contributions since last June. Because of this the children have been experiencing a wide variety of snacks and in some instances preparing them also i.e. Smoothies, dips, coleslaw, fruit salad, pizza, etc. The suggested amount is 20p per session and can be paid daily, weekly or half termly at the beginning of each session. A sheet is supplied for you to mark off your contribution together with money box. Without your contributions we can only offer basic snacks. Thank you for your support.
Bumps and Marks and Bruises
Can you please inform us of any bumps, marks or bruises your child may have upon arrival at playgroup. It is really important we know this information before you leave the premises.

Please name all clothes and provide a named change of clothes in a named bag as your child may require changing for a variety of reasons i.e. Messy/water play or toileting accidents.
Sickness and Illness
Please be advised that if your child has suffered from Diarrhoea and/or Vomiting we ask that the child does not return until 48 hours after the last symptom and is feeling well.
Can you please inform us via telephone if you expect your child to be away from playgroup for any longer than 2 days.
Fees
Thank you for your co-operation in paying the fees in advance as required by our policies. This is working well and cuts down on a lot of chasing. Please, speak to us if you are experiencing any difficulties as it is often better to know in advance rather than later.
Late Pick Up Charges
Please be aware turning up late to collect your child not only causes upset in some cases but also has an effect on our staffing arrangements. We do impose a discretionary £5 charge on late collections which covers the first 5 minutes, each additional 5 minutes or part of is then charged. We do of course appreciate that hold ups can be caused by things out of your control but may we please ask you to contact us as soon as is possible to ensure your child is put at ease.
Change of details and/or allergies
Please inform us immediately of any change of details ie. address, telephone numbers and health issues such as allergies and/or medication.
Lunch Club
Please provide your child/ren with a nutritious and healthy lunch. We would normally expect to see : a filled sandwich, roll or pitta bread, a piece of fruit or raisins, a yoghurt, fromage frais or jelly, fruit cake, and a drink (not fizzy). This list is not a requirement but merely a guide. Please also bear in mind that portion sizes need to be limited to what is easily managed.
The children may be hungry but they are not about to climb Mount Everest!!!
Funding
Parents of those Children entitled to funding will be asked to sign the funding form within the next 2 weeks. Failure to sign will result in lost funding. We offer the 38 week contract which gives all eligible children 15 hours per week of Free Entitlement. A maximum of 2 settings may provide the childcare subject to both settings offering the 38 week contract. Please speak to Caroline if you have any concerns or queries.
